How to Install Remocode on Mac

Remocode is an Electron-based terminal multiplexer built specifically for AI coding agents. Currently available for macOS, the installation process takes less than five minutes from download to your first terminal session.

Step 1: Download the Installer

Head to the official download page and grab the latest DMG:

https://dl.remocode.org/releases/Remocode-latest.dmg

The file is roughly 200 MB depending on the release. Safari, Chrome, and Firefox will all save it to your Downloads folder by default.

Step 2: Open the DMG File

Once the download completes:

  • Double-click Remocode-latest.dmg in Finder
  • A new window will appear showing the Remocode icon and an Applications folder shortcut
  • Drag the Remocode icon onto the Applications folder

This copies the application to your system. You can eject the DMG volume afterwards.

Step 3: Launch Remocode

Open Applications in Finder and double-click Remocode. On first launch, macOS may display a security prompt:

  • Click Open when macOS asks whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet
  • If macOS blocks the app, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway

Step 4: Sign In with Google

Remocode uses Google OAuth for authentication. Click Sign in with Google, choose your account, and you are in. No passwords to create, no credit card required.

Step 5: Start Your Free Trial

Every new account automatically receives a free 7-day Pro trial. This unlocks all features including multiple AI providers, unlimited split panes, Telegram integration, and workspace management.

Early Adopter Bonus: The first 1,000 users to sign up get an entire year of Pro for free. If you are reading this soon after launch, you may still qualify.

What Happens After Installation

After signing in, Remocode walks you through a 4-slide onboarding flow:

  • Welcome — a brief introduction to the app
  • How It Works — an overview of the terminal multiplexer and AI panel
  • What to Set Up — guidance on connecting an AI provider
  • Quick Start — keyboard shortcuts and tips to hit the ground running

You can revisit the onboarding any time from Help > Getting Started in the menu bar.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • "App is damaged" error — Run xattr -cr /Applications/Remocode.app in a standard terminal
  • Blank screen on launch — Ensure you are running macOS 12 Monterey or newer
  • Google sign-in fails — Check that your system clock is accurate and that you have an internet connection
