Google Sign-In Setup Guide for Remocode

Remocode uses Google OAuth for authentication. There are no passwords to create or remember — you sign in with your existing Google account. This guide explains the process and answers common questions.

How to Sign In

  • Launch Remocode
  • On the welcome screen, click Sign in with Google
  • A browser window or popup opens showing the Google sign-in page
  • Choose your Google account (or enter your email if not listed)
  • Grant the requested permissions
  • You are redirected back to Remocode, now signed in

The entire process takes about 15 seconds.

What Permissions Does Remocode Request?

Remocode requests minimal permissions through Google OAuth:

  • Email address — to identify your account
  • Basic profile information — your name and profile picture for display in the app

Remocode does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, or any other Google service. The sign-in is purely for identity verification.

What Happens After Sign-In

Once authenticated, Remocode automatically:

  • Creates your account if this is your first sign-in
  • Activates a free 7-day Pro trial (no credit card required)
  • Checks if you qualify for the first 1,000 users promotion (1 year of Pro free)
  • Launches the 4-slide onboarding flow

Using Multiple Google Accounts

If you have multiple Google accounts (personal, work, etc.), choose the one you want associated with your Remocode license. You can only have one Google account linked to Remocode at a time.

Troubleshooting Sign-In Issues

The Google sign-in popup does not appear:

  • Check that your default browser is working
  • Ensure you have an active internet connection
  • Try quitting and relaunching Remocode

"Access Denied" or permission errors:

  • Clear your browser cookies for accounts.google.com
  • Try using a different Google account
  • Ensure your Google account is not managed by an organization that blocks third-party OAuth

Sign-in succeeds but Remocode stays on the login screen:

  • Ensure the Remocode app is in the foreground
  • Restart the app and try again
  • Check for any firewall or VPN that might block OAuth callbacks

"This app is not verified" warning:

  • This may appear during early releases. Click Advanced and then Go to Remocode to proceed. The app is safe to use.

Security and Privacy

  • Your Google password is never shared with Remocode — Google handles all authentication
  • Remocode stores an authentication token locally on your machine
  • You can revoke access at any time from your [Google Account Permissions](https://myaccount.google.com/permissions) page
  • All API keys you configure for AI providers are stored locally and encrypted

Signing Out

To sign out of Remocode, use the app's account menu. Signing out clears your local authentication token. Your settings and API keys remain on the machine but are inaccessible until you sign back in.

Google OAuth provides a secure, passwordless authentication experience. You get the convenience of one-click sign-in backed by Google's industry-leading security infrastructure.
