Automated progress reports turn your AI coding sessions into observable processes. Instead of checking the terminal every few minutes, you configure a schedule once and get structured updates delivered to Telegram. This guide covers the complete setup — from connecting Telegram to fine-tuning your report prompts.

Why Telegram for AI Progress Reports?

Telegram is the ideal delivery channel for coding progress reports for several reasons:

  • Instant push notifications on your phone, desktop, or both.
  • Rich formatting — reports include code snippets, file lists, and structured summaries.
  • Accessible anywhere — check progress from your phone during a meeting, from your tablet on the couch, or from a different computer.
  • History — all reports are saved in the chat, creating a searchable log of your AI sessions.

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Connect Telegram to Remocode

Open Remocode and navigate to Settings. Find the Telegram section and follow the linking process. You will need to authorize the Remocode bot in Telegram. Once connected, you can send and receive messages between Remocode and Telegram.

Step 2: Open Standup Report Settings

In Remocode's settings, find the Standup Reports section. This is where you configure the schedule and prompt.

Step 3: Choose Your Schedule Type

Remocode offers two scheduling modes. Choose based on your workflow:

#### Interval-Based Scheduling

Set a time interval between reports. Every N minutes, Remocode analyzes the terminal and sends a report.

Best for:

  • Active development sessions where you want regular check-ins.
  • Running agents overnight and wanting periodic updates.
  • Monitoring a long-running task you cannot watch directly.

Recommended intervals:

  • 15 minutes for active monitoring.
  • 30 minutes for background awareness.
  • 60 minutes for overnight or long-running sessions.

#### Fixed-Time Scheduling

Set specific times of day when reports are generated. You can set multiple times.

Best for:

  • Teams that want daily standup summaries.
  • Async workflows where you check in at set times.
  • End-of-day summaries for long-running agent sessions.

Example schedule:

  • 9:00 AM — Morning catchup on overnight work.
  • 12:30 PM — Midday progress check.
  • 5:30 PM — End-of-day summary.

Step 4: Write Your Custom Prompt

The report prompt tells the AI model what to focus on when analyzing terminal output. The default works fine, but a custom prompt produces better results for specific workflows.

#### For Single-Agent Sessions

"Analyze the terminal output and provide: (1) a summary of completed tasks, (2) a list of files created or modified, (3) any errors or failures, (4) current agent status. Keep the summary under 200 words."

#### For Multi-Agent Sessions

"For each pane, summarize what the agent accomplished since the last report. Include files changed, tests run, and current status. At the end, note any cross-pane file conflicts or dependencies."

#### For Overnight Sessions

"Provide a comprehensive summary of everything that happened since the last report. List all files changed in order. Note any errors, retries, or unusual behavior. End with a clear statement of what is left to do."

Step 5: Test Your Configuration

After setting up the schedule and prompt, manually trigger a test report. Remocode will analyze the current terminal state and send a report to Telegram immediately. Review the output and adjust the prompt if needed.

Advanced Configuration

Per-Pane Customization

You can set different prompts for different panes. For example, your backend pane might focus on API endpoints and test results, while your frontend pane focuses on components and build status.

Quiet Hours

If you run agents overnight but do not want 3 AM notifications, configure quiet hours. Reports will still be generated and queued but delivered when quiet hours end.
